VOICES: Peer Educators and Volunteers Uplifting Our Community
Virginia Tech’s Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education (SVPE) is proud to host the VOICES program within our department. Rooted in the mission of amplifying student voices, VOICES is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while honoring all voices and diverse experiences.
- VOICES Peer Educators are NASPA certified student leaders who facilitate workshops, engage in outreach, and promote prevention and education initiatives. By hosting interactive workshops on topics like boundaries, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention, they empower students with knowledge and resources to create lasting change.
- The peer educator role is a paid position that requires a 5-10 weekly hour commitment and mandatory attendance at training sessions and recurring meetings.
Peer educators are mandatory reporters, meaning they are required to report disclosures of sexual/gender-based violence and harassment to the Title IX office.
